Little Brother Duncan Horvath, a recent high school graduate, and his Big Brother, Josh Diamond, have been matched since Duncan was in the fourth grade. “As opposites in many ways,” Josh said, “we have learned from and shaped each other into more rounded and versatile people.”
Here are some things they done together:
- Built a longbow (which they’ve almost finished)
- Transformed rebar into a custom trellis for roses
- Gone whitewater rafting
- Eaten both things they love and have tried
- Turned pens on a lathe
- Gone to woodworking shows
- Discussed physics ideas, projects, and theories (“Duncan is quite the intellectual in that area,” Josh said.)
- Led a physics experiment and discovery for one of Duncan’s elementary classes
- Played basketball (“not my forte,” Josh said)
- Practiced Taekwondo (both have achieved black belt ranking)
- Experienced beekeeping, woodcraft, and Minecraft together
- Rented a trolley to haul Duncan’s broken-down vehicle
- Grieved pet and family tragedies and flexed through challenging times
- Celebrated academic successes, family victories, and happy occasions
